For all of 2024 the sales closing date deadline for applications is 12/1/2023. All new applications, changes and renewals must be submitted by this deadline. The PRF program is available in every county in every contiguous state. Premium is billed in September of 2024, so there is no upfront cost. The premium is also subsidized up to to 51% by the USDA. Coverage is only for one peril, the lack of precipitation based on an average index.
In 2023 there were 67,055 PRF Policies insuring 290,639,229 acres across the United States.
